Six Senses Ibiza presents a new dimension of hospitality on the Balearic island all four seasons of the year

| Fomento | News

Discover and fall in love with Ibiza in winter. The first Six Senses resort in Spain occupies a privileged position in the north of Ibiza to connect with oneself, others and the world around. Nestled in the mountains of Cala Xarraca, with breathtaking sea and sunset views, Six Senses Ibiza is the new Mediterranean retreat, to be enjoyed all four seasons of the year.

Conceived by architect and visionary Jonathan Leitersdorf with a mission to capture the authentic Ibiza experience of community, spirituality and celebration, Six Senses Ibiza occupies a privileged position in Cala Xarraca, a magical cove with unobstructed sunset views and a special energy. The range of experiences evolve with the seasons to celebrate pioneering wellness, music, art, fashion, spirituality, culinary exploration and culture, all synonymous with Ibiza.

Sustainable design

Powered by its own renewable energy sources - up to 51 per cent currently - and with zero use of disposable plastics, Six Senses Ibiza is the first resort and residential community in the Balearic Islands to achieve BREEAM sustainable certification, the world's leading assessment of sustainability in construction and a new benchmark for sustainable real estate worldwide.

"Six Senses Ibiza is a reflection of the natural vibrancy and vitality of the Balearics," explains Jonathan Leitersdorf. "Achieving Ibiza's unique sense of community and celebration, we have created a truly transformative environment where guests are invited to connect meaningfully with nature, each other and themselves while discovering the elements that make Ibiza unlike anywhere else in the world."

Integrated into the contours of the cliff, the resort features 116 immaculately designed and finished beachfront suites and caves, plus a collection of three, four and five-bedroom Mediterranean beachfront townhouses with private pool and terrace ideal for groups or extended stays. The architecture uses locally sourced materials and maximises the impact of the breeze and natural features with a natural and sophisticated finish. The resort's gardens, built on the Ibicencan terraced model, are home to dozens of fruit trees and plants that also supply the resort's restaurants and bars. Technologically, Six Senses Ibiza features McIntosh and Sonus Faber sound systems for a state-of-the-art sound experience.

From the three organic restaurants, to the Recording Studio and the sensational Six Senses Spa Ibiza, a host of hospitality, wellness, gastronomy, music, art, sustainable fashion and culture will satisfy every whim. Guests also enjoy personalised service through their own Guest Experience Maker.

From exclusive locally inspired treatments, to biohacking to optimise the body's natural recovery systems, retreats, bespoke skincare solutions and programmes to improve sleep or immunity, guests' individual needs and intentions will be well catered for at Six Senses Spa Ibiza. RoseBar offers a unique space specialising in longevity programmes that combine diagnostics with nutritional guidance and modern healing methods to optimise health and performance such as biohacking. The 1,200 square metre space also houses a fitness area with 24/7 gym, functional room (Black Room), a rooftop yoga platform with panoramic views of the bay, outdoor boxing ring and wet area with hammam, caldarium, rooftop sauna with panoramic views of the bay, outdoor boxing ring and wet area with hammam, caldarium, infrared sauna, steam bath and relaxation area with sitar.

To guide guests towards greater awareness and a new sense of self, Six Senses Ibiza offers a twice-yearly programme of retreats and immersions at the highest level - three, five or seven days - facilitated by Six Senses Friends, resident practitioners and guests.

Culinary Exploration

Led by chef Eyal Shani, the resort's flagship dining destination, HaSalon Ibiza, and its full offering of bars and restaurants, showcase the powers of organic, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, presented in innovative ways. Shani aims to revitalise Ibiza's energy through plant-based dining, drawing on the island's natural abundance of ingredients. From roasted cauliflower, tomato entrecôte and ricotta clouds to giant hot focaccia. The aim is to let the food do the talking, garnished with a generous supply of olive oil, an absolute essential for Shani. The open kitchen allows guests to be part of the creative process as they gather at the 50-seat 'Chef's Table', shaded by centuries-old olive trees and with the sea in the background.

The Farmers' Market offers an authentic selection of vegetable and sustainable specialities, plus market-style stalls with wood-fired pizzas, charcuterie and pickles, fresh juices, coffee and pastries, among other delicacies. The Orchard is the resort's most intimate restaurant, with a selection of dishes made with responsibly produced ingredients from the land and sea and prepared on the grill, and Mexican-Peruvian cocktails. Live Cave and Twin Bar are the dining destinations at Beach Caves, the spectacular waterfront building specialising in Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine. Under the direction of chef Mark Spitzer of New York's celebrated BONDST restaurant, guests can also enjoy an eclectic menu of Japanese cuisine specially designed for this exclusive Six Senses Ibiza residence.

With an original selection of botanical elixirs, Pharmacy Bar offers nourishing mixology experiences while Secret Bar invites you to extend the evening into the wee hours with a selection of cognacs, whiskies and Cuban cigars. The Farm, the resort's farm, sources fresh organic produce daily for farm-to-table culinary experiences.

Where creativity flourishes

With programming led by composer, producer and recording artist Tomer Biran, and supported by music industry executive Shivas Howard-Brown, Beach Caves is the heart of the resort, adding an exciting new spectrum to Ibiza's music scene. Beach Cave channels Ibiza's landscape and hypnotic natural rhythms, using McIntosh and Sonus Faber technology to create an immersive sensory experience through live music events and performances representing world cultures. There is even an exclusive suite, Cave Royale, with a secret door leading to the Recording Studio for when creativity strikes in the middle of the night.

The visual arts are represented in the corridor galleries and public spaces through a unique collection of 400 images that have been specially selected by Magnum Photo for Six Senses Ibiza curated by Elaine Groenestein to reflect Ibiza's core values and inspire awareness through authentic visual storytelling guided by 18 distinct concepts. Images by Robert Capa, Martin Parr or Cristina García Rodero are part of the collection, also available for private collectors.

In the fashion section, Six Senses Ibiza presents Agora, a sustainable fashion concept that seeks to unite the ideas of luxury and sustainability. Curated by fashion editors Daniela Agnelli and Tiffanie Darke, the idea behind Agora is to redefine modern luxury. "We believe that the true modern meaning of luxury is to move through the world as seamlessly as possible," they say. The Agora story unfolds in four chapters: 'Reduce', 'Recycle', 'Restore' and 'Rent'.

Experiences

Guests can get their adrenaline pumping by jumping off cliffs or relax with a selection of complimentary water activities including snorkelling, kayaking, paddle surfing or guided underwater meditation. Those wanting to discover the magic of the surrounding area can take a paddle trip to the fishing huts of Cala Xuclar, shop at the local Sunday craft market in the bohemian village of Sant Joan or take a boat trip to the mystical island of Es Vedrà. The Alchemy Bar practices cultivating the bounty of Ibiza's earth, inviting guests to prepare their own natural salves for use in the spa while at Six Senses Earth Lab guests can become familiar with sustainable practices from an early age by discovering the powers of local plants.
